Preparation
Make the Brownies:
- Preheat the oven according to your brownie mix package directions.
- Prepare the brownie batter as directed on the box.
- Spray a mini muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray and fill each cup about ¾ full.
- Bake according to package instructions, reducing bake time slightly for mini muffins (typically 12–15 minutes).
- Remove from oven and allow brownies to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Make the Frosting:
- In
a large bowl, beat softened butter and a dash of salt with an electric
mixer for 1 minute until smooth. - Add
powdered sugar in batches, mixing on low speed and scraping the sides of
the bowl after each addition. - Mix
in 1 tablespoon of cream and the vanilla extract. Beat until fluffy. If
the frosting is too thick, add another tablespoon of cream or a splash of
milk to reach your desired consistency.
Decorate the Monsters:
- Divide the frosting evenly into separate bowls. Add drops of Crayola Food
Coloring to each bowl to create bright monster colors. Mix well. - Transfer colored frosting to piping bags fitted with a grass tip (#233) or similar.
- Pipe “fur” all over the tops of the brownie bites.
- Immediately press candy eyes into the frosting before it sets.
