Festive Colored Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup Crisco
1 ¼ cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Crayola Food Coloring
Sugar for rolling
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and
salt. Stir with a whisk to combine. - In the bowl of stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the Crisco
and sugar over medium speed for 2 minutes. - Add the egg and vanilla and mix just until combined.
- Add the flour mixture and mix just until combined.
- Divide mixture into three bowls. Add enough food coloring to reach desired color and, using your hands, combine until dough is evenly colored.
- Using a small cookie scoop, portion dough into your hand, roll into a ball and
then roll in sugar. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. - Remove from the oven, allow to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before
transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
